Any help would be most appreicated. Ive tried the search should i ask for certain characters or is there a site i could go to Posted by Ken34 on 01:29:2002 04:40 PM: Why don't you just ask us what you need help with. I have the game for snes, but I mostly play A3 on my PS. Posted by bison812 on 01:29:2002 05:21 PM: Well i wanted to check what sights were avaiable out there. I pull out my Jap saturn and started playing. some of my questions were is there a tier list and if there was what is it. I know about Rose and how deadly she can be with some of her moves are. Who is worth useing in the game beside the shotos. can Sak be used effectively in A2. Is gief any good i play him last night a little and i like him a lot so is he worth playing. What are some good cc with gief that are effective. Some basic stuff like cu and anti air moves. When A2 came out in 96 i think i played it but not effective like i wanted so any help would be most appreciated. Posted by Cletus Kasady on 01:29:2002 06:00 PM: The VS. Books Guide is hella good. It's pretty much got everything (including rankings) that you want. Good luck finding it though, and I don't have mine anymore. Let me see, besides the shotos, I would have to say either bison or Dan, if you count dan as a shoto then I would have to say charlie. Bison is very effective you know all his moves and can use them at the right time, his moves are very good to use to counter other attackes before they happen.Charlie is an exceptional player, You have to know how to use his flah kick to counter attacks and know hot to mix it up. try holding back and down at the same time, so that way you can choose to attack with the flash kick or the sonic boom. Posted by bison812 on 01:29:2002 06:55 PM: I talked to one of my friends you may know him Sabre. Anyway he informed me talk charlie was to slow to bother with. A3 charlie i play him and was wondering were the same or does one have more priority then the other. Posted by erco on 01:29:2002 09:12 PM: um, there's an A2 discussion and no one bothers to mention chun-li and her instant low forward and high damage CC's? Chun, Shotos, Rose are all very good. I'm not sure how good vega is. and also, the Valle CC. So screwed up, you can't hardly believe it. Charlie's slow, I'm not sure about bison. Posted by Pez_Man on 01:29:2002 09:24 PM: tier i would say 1. ryu 2. chun li 2. rose 4. ken 5. zangief 6. sakura she has an ambigouis cross up that is really hard to tell which way to block. zangief is good because he can do valle CC from half screen and for good damage KP has a great akuma that i saw last summer at MWC rolento is good for run away and his glitch custom. CC low roundhouse, [super jump, sj short, sj short, short] repeat till or for anti air standing strong into the super jumping short. his low fierce is a great poke to. i think charlie is good too but that is based on playing someone from florida named alex, i think. i do have the versus book so if you have any questions you can ask. valle cc aren't impossible to stop, you can counter custom(it's not that hard) or reverse with something like a dragon punch Posted by Cletus Kasady on 01:29:2002 09:34 PM: Charlie and Bison are friggin' useless. The fact that Ken34 plays exclusively on consoles (as he states) is testimony to the fact that he doesn't know shit (No offense, Ken34). Pez_Man: I personally think top tier is the Big 4 (Chun Ken Ryu Rose in that order IMO), with second tier being Sakura, Rolento, Zangief and maybe Akuma in no real oder. Posted by CapMaster on 01:29:2002 09:45 PM: Sodom isn't too shabby in A2 either... Posted by bison812 on 01:29:2002 10:06 PM: Hey guys no arguements just strats to help my game out. Thanks for all the post i think ill use gief and sak and maybe for a 3rd rose so all the help would be great Posted by Cletus Kasady on 01:30:2002 12:58 AM: Playing Rose is mostly about a few things 1) C.Strong. That thing pretty much outprioritizes every poke/footsie in the game. You might want to mix in S.Forward to go over low attacks. If you hit with C.Strong relatively close, cancel it into Short-Soul Spiral for good damage and a knock down. 2) If you're a relative distance away and they try to throw a fireball, Jab-Soul Reflect it. Gives you like half a level of super meter, which turns out to be very useful. When you do have meter... - Punch Alpha Counter works on tons of pokes. You can also combo after it with C.Strong -> Short-Soul Spiral. - L1 Aura Soul Throw (QCFx2 + P) catches tons of stuff out of the air. You can also juggle with it. - L1 Soul Illusion, then Roundhouse-Soul Spiral. Does tons of chip damage and it's hard to AC properly without trading hits. - CC's aren't as good, but C.Roundhouse XX Roundhouse-Soul Spiral, Fierce-Soul throw is decent enough that you can use it with some success. He's no speed demon, but he can zone very well and his short somersault shell has priority over every jumpin in the game. You have to be very patient with him but he's far from "useless". Posted by Josh-TheFunkDOC on 01:30:2002 01:26 AM: I just remembered something...a LONG time ago, a guy named Sean Hoyles had an Alpha 2 site up that was *really* good...had just about all the info you could ask for. I'm wondering, is it still up? EDIT: Oh yes, I have a question: Are all those CC's on the NKI video at Gamecombos really each character's most useful one? I know Rose's isn't because it's a glitch, and Gen's doesn't really look practical, but all the others seem OK to me. First off all, Charlie isn't useless(bison may be a little bit too teqnicle and too advanced), but charlie is very good. I know many people who use charlie as there favor. Just because I don't like playing in the arcade deosn't mean I never played before or I never seen what most people like. Me myself I play alot of Marvel v.s Capcom games in arcades. So I see who people prefer when I glance over at SFA3 arcade. I see alot of people using charlie and of course the shotos.I use massive offense with the shotos, but with people like bison or charlie, I'm more precautious, and like to zone out. Charlie is not useless. Far from it. He kills shotos. Same as Adon. How come nobody mentioned Adon? You guys do know Capcom created him to be the anti-Shoto no? He absolutely demolishes Ken, Ryu and Akuma in Alpha 2, with his QCF + Kick Jaguar Kick. Bison is also very good. In fact, Bison is the best turtler in the game, hands down. Also a good anti-shoto. Posted by erco on 01:30:2002 07:31 PM: jesus, do any of those characters do anything against A2 chun? She's literally twice as fast as charlie, and her c.forward will beat almost anything short of Rose c.strong. Posted by Pez_Man on 01:30:2002 07:40 PM: sakura and zangief help bison182 i couldn't send this through pm because it was a little too long for sakura her whole game involves around crossing up. after any knock down go for the cross up. mix it up high and low and chances are they will get hit. then do low short, low short, standing short xx fierce dragon punch. this places you perfect for another cross up. if you think they will roll after the dragon punch then walk up and fierce throw or low short, standing short xx fierce dragon punch. and repeat. if they block the cross up then fierce throw or tick into the fierce throw, this throw places the cross up distance just right. if they start guessing how to block your cross up, cross them up with out pressing forward and when you land low short, etc... her kick alpha counter places the distance right usually. her best footies is low forward, low strong, standing roundhouse and low jab is useful against chun li. i am not an zangief expert. his jumping knee is good, jump straight up fierce is good too. his best footies is low jab, standing forward or sometimes standing strong(this hits some low attacks somehow like ryu's low roundhouse if i remember right.. the key to zangief is his custom....(level 1)CC low roundhouse, green glove, green glove, ppp lariat. this setups cross up or spd if they roll. the valle CC is if your opponet is standing up within your sweep range activate your custom and do low roundhouse. they can't low block because of the game engine won't let you move down in time. then you just continue with whatever. with sakura it's low roundhouse roundhouse hurricane kick, fierce dragon punch. i hope this helps the nki movie does show the most useful customs in general. to beat chun li you must be able to control the distance better than her. for example ryu can throw fierce fireballs in her face, hop kick over it, low forward it before her, standing short, or walk back to make it whiff than low roundhouse or CC it, this isn't easy to do since she walks so fast but can be done. watching sirlin versus doung( i hope i spelled that right) from ECC4 shows this. it was a battle back and forth. it's not an easy match for either side.
